Drawing on her journalistic experience, Kate Murphy explored the art of listening. Not only did she spend countless hours, days, and even years extensively researching the subject, the author spoke with numerous individuals with first hand knowledge.

You're Not Listening is a fascinating look at all of the facets of communication: where it is lacking in today's society, how to converse effectively by listening to both overt and subtle cues, when it is best to express opinions or to simply give non-verbal responses, and why this is all so important.

I particularly like how the author delves deep into the science surrounding the subject, by exploring the research by psychologists through the years. Kate Murphy has a concrete theory on how to become a better listener and does a great job of backing her ideas up with both scientific and personal thought. You're Not Listening will give all readers something to think about and I would definitely recommend it.
