I agree with what the author has to say about the topic of listening. Unfortunately, too many people instead of really listening to what someone else is saying are just waiting to tell their own story. The use of social media such as cell phones certainly hasn’t helped people learn to interact and become good conversationalists. The author had a lot of good points to make about loneliness in our society today. This is a rather sad situation. As a retired teacher, I have taken courses in listening and employing active listening skills. That’s one reason I would not buy the book and would not choose to win it.
