Not What I Expected

This book isn't exactly what I expected. The title and synopsis refer to the couple's relationship but the is very little in this book about them bonding as a couple. Instead the author (who truly didn't want to go but went because his wife wanted to as her big adventure) bitches and complains as they bike (or in his case recumbent triked. I won't laugh. I think there should be more normalized) the Great Allegheny Passage and the C&O Canal Towpath. It was always focused on him and trying to understand his dad's suicide. His wife's cancer was just bookends of this journey.
There is some humor that is actually humor and I laughed several times. The book is easy to read and I enjoyed seeing my mind's eye some beautiful bike paths and national parks. I'm not a huge fan of the writer but his wife? Sounds like a Vallhallan warrior who takes what life gives her and makes the best of it.
