I don’t usually read nonfiction books, generally gravitating towards fictional worlds that can transport me out of this one. I only have a couple of nonfiction books in my personal library. And this book being a Christianity nonfiction book is also something I wouldn’t really turn to, even though I am a Christian by birth (I don’t really go to church or anything like that anymore). Saying all that, I was pleasantly surprised that I read the entirety of the first look.
I have personally known people who have had cancer and either passed away while trying to fight it or were lucky to become cancer free. It’s definitely a huge and difficult topic and it never fails to pull at my heart, no matter who it is affecting.
I enjoyed the writing style and how the author was able to lift the mood even when talking about heavy things like cancer. I wasn’t laughing yet, but based on what I read, I’m assuming there will be moments when I actually do laugh out loud.
I’m curious to know why he is afraid of bikes… I’m guessing there is some kind of explanation in a chapter that was skipped over during the first look. Also about the cancer and the trail and how the story ends.
The cover is artistically pleasing, especially since I’m a sucker for green, and the silhouettes are great. Every time I read the title, my brain immediately starts singing the song, so it’s not a title I would easily forget anytime soon.
