I think this excerpt skipped quite a bit of the beginning of the story but I was still able to get a glimpse of the author’s sense of humor. I hope the book itself offers more information on the in between of his wife’s cancer diagnosis and their decision to ride the long trail. But his humor is definitely refreshing.
