In 1943, Ezra's daughter, Cheaya, was killed by the Nazi's during the war. Filled with grief, he uses magic to create a golem in his daughter's image. The golem, Vera, has one purpose. Revenge. Vera can feel the strength and power within her, but she also has memories of the life Chaya once lived. One evening, Vera meets Akiva and immediately recognizes him from Chaya's memories. These memories stir up feelings inside Vera that make her wonder if she can have a life beyond what she was created for.

Wrath Becomes Her is an exquisitely written novel about the horrors of war and the lengths a grieving father goes to exact his vengeance. This story had me hooked from the very beginning. This was a nod to Frakenstein's monster mixed with Jewish mythology and culture. Vera was created to kill the Nazi's and is seen as a monster by humans. Yet, she still has feelings and is struggling to do what is right. She questions who the real monsters are in the war. Her or the humans. She is also trying to explore what it is like to be human. Then there's Akiva, who she has memories of Chaya loving. Vera is developing feelings for Akiva as they are on their missions throughout the book. At times, it was hard to pinpoint what the main plot of this book was because it was all over the place, and there really was no one resolution to the story. Despite this, it was still an emotional read, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it. This is a story that will stick with you long after finishing it.
