While this book was entertaining, I doubt it’s anything that will stick with me for any length of time. I really enjoy the concept of golems and I appreciated the various perspectives characters took on the golem(s) during the course of the book, but overall, it felt like the storyline was just a cursory backdrop for the story of the golem, and we didn’t get much exposure to either.

I appreciated that the focus of the entire storyline was on golems, but it seemed like it was very obvious to the reader that the Germans were focused on learning more about making golems while the characters in the story weren’t quite picking up on why certain texts and people were being sought.

I really liked Vera’s perspective on the world and was glad that we were in her head for the course of this story. The author did a fantastic job exploring her competing desires.
