Dark and emotional, Wrath Becomes Her was an excellently crafted story about a non-human girl navigating human emotions to find her true place in the world. Taking place in 1943 Lithuania, a grieving father creates a golem in the likeness of his daughter to avenge her death. The story is told from Vera, the golem’s point of view. This gives the story the dimension of following Vera’s thoughts and emotions as she is trying to understand what it means to be human. She was created for retribution alone but she becomes so much more. The fantastical elements of this story give hope to a very hopeless time in history. I would not recommend this book to those sensitive to gore, as the writing was very detailed. I have seen this book described as Inglorious Bastards meets Frankenstein and I completely agree in the best way. I was very invested in this story from the very beginning and was not disappointed.
