This ended up being more romance-y and less revenge-y than I expected. The pacing felt off to me, there is a lot of going between big events but then the big events are over very quickly and it's back to walking somewhere. The end confrontation felt especially rushed to me which left the book on an unsatisfying note. I've read and enjoyed other books by Aden Polydoros and I had high expectations for this book.

That said, there are things I really liked. The premise is unique and interesting, and the overall writing was good. I really liked Vera as a character, her struggles to understand herself and the world around her, her relation to Chaya and Ezra all kept me reading. I wish there had been more between her and Ezra though. There were many words used that I didn't know, but the glossary was very helpful and it was honestly fun to hit something I hadn't heard before then flip to the glossary to see what it means.
