Like many fantasy books this is about humanity

Although the central character in this novel is a golem (although a bit more than a regular golem but that extra wasn’t named) this novel is about humanity. Vera, created by a grieving father, enters a world which is familiar but not in the ways she remembers. She has the outlines of memories and the start of ann identity, but with each step closer the question of her identity and her purpose seems more complicated and further away. Vera’s journey takes her to places that sometimes mirror her memories. These memories must be faced with a stark reality of war and loss. While the novel is about the big stories of golems, war, and revenge there are so many quiet scenes and nuances that give the book the soul for which Vera is searching.
