This was a mesmerizing story of an old legend. It reminded me a bit of Frankenstein but definitely a completely new and different story. It was exciting and unique in many ways. The story is at times heart wrenching but at the same time heartwarming. It shines a light on how cruel humanity can be in so many ways. Set in one of the worst times in history I was definitely rooting for Vera to make things happen in a positive way and although it didn’t happen quite as I expected a realization was made. The things humanity is capable of in grief, anger, hatred, love, and many more emotions is unbelievable at times and this story shines a light on some of those things. When giving a review I don’t like to give away key parts of a novel so as not to spoil it for those coming to read it for the first time. With that being said I would highly recommend this book. It’s a good read full of adventure and emotions! I do feel the ending could have been laid out smoother (I still have some questions 😊) but as I thought on it later after the last page had long since been read I decided it was tied up neatly.
