Though I don't read much YA or historical fiction, this book drew me in with the promise of a Jewish golem who was a Nazi hunter. I am delighted to report that this is exactly that, with a side of self-discovery and the intersection between grief and vengeance/revenge.

I do wish we would have seen more of Vera's rage throughout the book. We get bursts of wrath instead of her being constantly wrathful, if that makes sense. I enjoyed her journey and how she slowly discovered what it meant to be human and what it means to have a purpose; however, I am a HUGE fan of angry female protagonists so I wish we would have gotten more of that.

Overall, this book is a unique and creative WWII historical fiction novel with fantasy elements that features Jewish resistance fighters. It's very compulsively readable and I found myself speeding through it, especially at the end. Very much would recommend it!
