This delightful alternate history takes us back to WWII. A Jewish man has lost his family, and he creates a Golem to take revenge on the nazis. There is a bit of a Frankenstein twist, as some body parts (human eyes and teeth) have been incorporated into the creation of the Golem, who is named Vera. The Frankenstein similarity continues as Vera's creator is horrified at what he has created, and then he dissapears (presumably captured) and Vera is left alone to figure out her purpose and identity. Vera embarks on a quest to find and rescue her creator, and to carry out her purpose of revenge and destruction, while also trying to understand who and what she is.
Overall, I enjoyed reading!
Satisfying story, haunting delightful vengence. Felt very transported into the time and place of the story. I want to read more by this author and look forward to future novels.
