As a fan of the author from his previous book, "Ring of Solomon," Polydoros again hits is mark with this latest story steeped in Jewish folklore, heartbreak, and war. A golum created to avenge the death of the creator's daughter, Vera is born from forbidden magic by broken father. The first few pages are brimming with innocence alongside suffering. Her life of clay begins with the purpose to destroy. Set in 1940s Lithuania, this magical realism tale is quick to enchant its readers. I look forward to more.
