I am purchasing this book as soon as possible. These two chapters sucked me in and left me wanting more. The writing is beautiful and uniquely descriptive. The magic system, magic given by the moon/night, is different than any other magic system I've read about in young adult fantasy thus far - and I've read a lot of young adult fantasy. I love the setting, based on Central American civilizations and the use of Spanish throughout the book, the author drew inspiration from Bolivian politics and history. Ximena is a strong characters, who needs to be the decoy for her queen but yearns to be her own person and be able to be herself instead of pretending to be someone else. I can't wait to see where the rest of this story goes!
