Ximena is the decoy Condesa, a stand-in for the last remaining Illustrian royal. Her people lost everything when the usurper, Atoc, used an ancient relic to summon ghosts and drive the Illustrians from La Ciudad. Now Ximena’s motivated by her insatiable thirst for revenge, and her rare ability to spin thread from moonlight.

First can we just appreciate how beautiful this cover is?! I enjoyed the author's writing style and the world building and magic systems were fascinating! The descriptions of the setting, Bolivian culture, food, clothing, etc were so lush. You could really picture everything perfectly. ⁣

We see a lot of growth throughout the story for Ximena. As she hunts for the ultimate weapon to take down the King and the Llacsans, she gets to know the people of her enemy and begins to see them differently and starts to question the original plan, which means she would be betraying the real Condesa. ⁣
There are tense moments, a little romance, twists you didn't see coming and a lot of action as Ximena tries to defeat Atoc and help the Illustrian people.

Overall, this story was very enjoyable! It's hard to go further into detail without revealing any spoilers so I hope you will take the time to pick up this book and check it out for yourself!
