The book was a pleasant surprise. I am not usually a fantasy reader, but this one grabbed my attention, and held on the entire way through.
This story had it all: magic,
disguise, hidden talent, and the cutest comrades. A nice break from the thrillers, romances and literary fiction that I usually read. The premise of this novel is creative and entirely unique.
The biggest downside for me, is that the romantic aspect of the novel felt very predictable, and somewhat forced. Maybe if we had more than one point of view on that it would have felt more developed and real.
Overall, I couldn't put this book down and thoroughly enjoyed the read. What an impressive debut from this author, and I look forward future novels.
