It took me a little while to really get in to this book, but in the end the plot sucked me in. The parallels to Bolivian history and the intense politics make this a very beautifully written and very potent book.

I love that domestic arts have such a key place in this book, as they're often overlooked in fantasy in favor of war and more in your face glory. I adore that this book challenges the concepts of preconceived right and wrong. It invites the reader to think of reasons for why things happened and consider other views, and it uses the tapestries that are woven as a metaphor for life.

Shifting world views, conquests, corruption, rebellion, history. Are the narratives we know reliable? Are the stories we've always been told prejudice? This book inspires the reader to question along with the characters.
