When reading this book, I already knew their was a sequel in the works, so I spent a lot of time going back and forth on if I would read the sequel or not. Ultimately, I decided “maybe if I just so happen to see it somewhere.” It was a very charming story, but I wish the mythology had been a bit more developed. Sometimes it seems like well of course the solution was right there, its magic. Bit too easy for my tastes. However, I do think this makes a great Young Adult book, and I think its great representation. The story was definitely interesting and unique enough for me to keep wanting to read more, and the writing style is very easy to read so you quickly fly through. If you want something enjoyable, this is for you. If you want something that really dives into mythology not often explored in media, its a great intro, but I hope we see more from other authors as well.
