From the beginning of this tale two things are made clear: Ximena and the Contesa are as close as sisters, and their opinions over how to best take care of their people differ greatly. When Ximena makes the courageous decision to enter Atoc's city and appear that she will consent to his demand of marriage she sets a series of events into motion that bring about many changes. This story is one of loss, hope, and redemption. Ximena will discover that the Llacsan people are not all the same and her new friendships will call into question the revenge that has kept her going since Atoc first came into power. The true Contesa is not privy to this information and feels slighted by Ximena's ultimate change of heart. In the end battle lines are drawn and differing sides choose to act as they see best. Will Atoc be taken down and peace finally be brought to the kingdom? Or will generations long injustices continue along with his oppressions? You should definitely pick up a copy to find out! The element of Ximena's moonbeam creatures was a unique addition that I really liked.
