My Rating: 4.5/5 (I personally round up when giving .5’s to anything)
The Writing: This novel is beautifully written.I absolutely adore the rich culture, as some who is quite ignorant Bolivian culture and history I took this as an opportunity to educate myself whilst reading, which was a fascinating experience.
The Characters: Ximena has to be one of my favorite main characters of all time, the amount of growth she went through in such a short time is astounding. Rumi really grew on me throughout the novel and now looking back on all the decisions he made and the reason behind it I love him even more. I have to say a stand-out character for me was the charming Juan Carlos, whom I love with my whole heart.
The Story: The magic system is incredibly interesting and to be completely honest I wanted more of it, I wanted to know about all the other unique abilities everyone else has. I was expecting a high action story and it certainly wasn’t that, which is okay if you're not into high fantasy. Overall the story had nice pacing and had some interesting twists.
