First of all, this cover is beautiful! Woven in Moonlight is a stand-alone fantasy based on Bolivian politics. Isabell Ibanez is Bolivian, which makes this own-voices. Ximena is the decoy Condesa for Catalina, which comes with a whole set of issues. The Illustrians and Llacsans have been at war since King Atoc has taken over and it is Ximena’s job to maintain the real Condesa’s anonymity at all costs so she can become Queen. I also loved the magic based on the moon. Ximena weaves tapestries with moonlight and Catalina can read the stars. There is also mention of El Lobo (The Wolf) who I really want to know more about. The Spanish in this novel is just perfect for my elementary understanding of the language and does not take me out of the story (as can be an issue for me with other languages.) These first two chapters left me wanting more and I seriously can’t wait to devour this whole novel in the near future.
