I was a little hesitant on reading this first impression, as the blurb about Woven in Moonlight seemed a little too complex and off-putting. The opening chapters were much better than I expected and it did pique my interests. The writing is fluid and the book starts off with some good old fashioned political upset. It reminded me The Bear and the Nightingale (only a different culture, of course).
