I’m really disappointed to say but after finishing With Every Memory I didn’t care for it. The story ended up being completely different than what I was expecting. The subject matter is a heavy one. A mother and her teenage son get into a horrible car accident killing him and leaving her with horrific injuries. Including a months long recovery in the hospital and severe memory loss. Now the family Lori, Michael and Avery are left to pick up the pieces. The best aspect of the story was the parts involving Avery and how she dealt with her brother’s death and her parents strained relationship.

I adored her boyfriend Xander who happened to be her brother Austin’s best friend. Their journey from hating one another (on Avery’s part) to friendship and eventual relationship was so sweet. That’s the kind of relationship everyone should want. For me though Lori’s and Michael’s relationship just felt so forced. It was very hard to read. Lori still dealing with her memory loss just acted so odd around him and in the next minute hating his guts. Michael for his part felt like a background character for more than half of the story.

The adultery subplot was hilarious. Sorry this is just my opinion but cheating on your spouse is a an intentional act. It is so odd how in real life or in books people jump through hoops or make crazy justifications for cheating. It is just so cringe worthy. It is such a cliche to seemingly have them patch things up in an instant just felt so forced. It made the story hard to read.
