The first read of this book clearly shows the loss of self that accompanies a traumatic brain injury. As a survivor myself I can relate so well to the thoughts that accompany this. In this case the people and place around her are foreign not only because of the memory loss but because they don’t fit with the person she remembers being. There are so many questions, like, is the memory loss completely TBI related or is some or all her mind’s way of protecting her from how her life changed. What is she going to discover once she begins trying to relearn her life? What secrets or pain is hiding in those black holes of memory?
