I thought this was a pretty solid First Look! I was definitely drawn into the challenges Lori is facing and just how vulnerable she feels returning to a "normal" life she doesn't remember. There's lots of really good details like how much thought Lori has to put into standing successfully, or the way she tries to calculate her daughter's age, or how hyper-aware she is of her large scar that all really capture her struggles and that same vulnerability. I really felt for her and at the same time could imagine the journey she'll have to struggle through throughout the course of the book. At the same time, the appearance of the best friend she can't remember and her comments about Lori's husbanding worrying about what she might tell Lori really stood out to me--it definitely raises intrigue, but in a way that felt a little bit more reminiscent of a thriller, rather than what I expect this book to be. Of course the handling of it within the text itself will probably be different, it just stood out tonally from the rest of the excerpt to me.
