The Tox has devoured its way through the Raxter girls on their isolated island. Their bodies turn against themselves and outside of the relative safety of their fence, the Tox is turning the island into chaos. When one of the Raxter girls goes missing, her friends must choose between the known safety of the school and the wild woods that lie beyond the fence.

This was one of my most anticipated books of the year. A biological thriller, set on a forgotten island, with plenty of horror and uncertainty. More or less a Young Adult "Annihilation." What could go wrong? Unfortunately for me, too much. I was so intrigued by the story and learning more about the Tox. Once I hit the halfway mark though, I began to feel disinterested in the characters and what happened to them. Their feelings and reactions seemed to have been told to me, rather than described. In the end, I didn't feel much for the characters or their outcome. I left feeling "meh" about them all.
