I enjoyed this book a lot the first time I read it. The story was thrilling and the world was so vivid. The second time around, I stared to realize small things I had not realized before.

For starters, the characters were great, but I was not as attached to them as I have been to others in the past. Their journey was scary and exciting, but I didn’t feel like I was rooting for them. If the book had given a little more backstory about who they were before, what their family lives were like, or something along those lines, I might have cared about them a little more. Instead, I found no way to relate to them and did not feel connected to them as much as I wish I had

I also found that the romance included felt a little too forced. It gave the impression that it was thrown in to check a box. It also seemed to appear out of nowhere. At first, they were friends, and then, like magic, all these feelings came into the picture and they had crushes on each other. It could have been introduced a little more naturally, or it could have just been removed entirely.

This book, although it had flaws, was still a lot of fun to read. The descriptions are vivid and clear, painting a a picture of their island that seems almost too real. This thriller is worth picking up just so you can immerse yourself into this captivating world of confusing twists and turns.
