This story was an unconventional coming-of-age story. The characters are all unique and special in their own ways. I think, in a weird way, this is a great book for feminists. It shows the strength of a girl while allowing for her to be herself and still show her weaknesses. While I was enthralled by the story, I think the ending fell a little short. There was so much more that could have been told. I think this would have been great as the first book in a duo or even a trilogy. Don't get me wrong, I still loved it and gave it 4 stars, but would have given 5 if I had gotten a little bit more about the aftermath of everything. I would still recommend it to anyone who loves a book about a girl fighting her own or who someone who truly values strong female friendships. I would argue that, despite the gore of some parts, this book really boils down to the power of friendship.
