How can I even describe this book? The world was beautifully written with well depth characters. Letting it be set in a time of quarantine when we are in our own lock down made the desperation these girls felt so real.
The world is set at an all girls boarding school after a year of lock down due to a disease called the Tox hit turning everyone into plants and killing them. The adults mostly went first leaving all the girls with two care givers. Hetty is the main protagonist you follow most of the time as she adjust to getting a new rule in the school making her one of the few who can go past the gates that protect them to help get food back to the school provided by the government and learning there was a lot more to everything than she originally thought. The story has a real heart to it.
This book also has LGBTQ+ representation and it’s done well!
