I am not exactly sure what I was expecting when I decided to pick this one up. I also do not know if "pleasantly surprised" is the wmrighr phrase either. A lot of reviewers and the media had been comparing this to one of my high school favorites- Lord of the Flies. I thought ok, cool this will basically be a female retelling of that beloved classic. Although it is similar I definetly was not prepared for the darkness or the level of graphic, gory, oozing wounds type of scenarios that I would be reading about. It is safe to say that this story is definetly not for those wh ok are squeamish or faint of heart. I highly recommend you pick this up if you'd like an action packed, badass female adventure story.
