As an 8th grade teacher who loves books, and loves to share book suggestions with my kids, I jumped right into this story. You meet all the girls at Raxter School in Maine, and learn that they have all been affected by the Tox, but in different ways. With only 2 adults for supervision, things fall apart as supplies go short and so do tempers. There’s some love among the girls, and some hate, and a lot of competition. And there are many unknowns: what’s outside the fence? Who drops off food, and why is the packaging often broken? What do the teacher and Headmistress know? Will the Navy come up with a cure?
