This book was amazing! From the first page I immediately pulled into this creepy tale of mutations and quarantine all taking place on this fictional island in Maine. I live in Maine, born and raised and I LOVE when books take place here!!!
We have this main group of three girls, Hetty, Byatt and Reese who attended this all girls school, turned all girls quarantine when the island was overrun with the Tox, this thing that affects all the girls differently. This book was pretty unique inside a genre that isn’t. It was fast paced. It was creepy and gory. And there was a lot of emotion. A lot of guilt. It was fantastic!
What I didn’t like, was how there were so many things that didn’t seemed to get explained. They were like forgotten about. Or glossed over too quickly. Not the end, the ending didn’t bother me. But from about 65% until right before the very end I was left with too many questions...
maybe a sequel??!!
