Hetty is trapped under quarantine at The Raxter School for Girls because of a deadly disease called "The Tox", the surrounding wilderness is dangerous and the will not venture there. Most of the girls remaining are left with some type of deformity adding to the "horror" quality of the story. Hetty's best friend Byatt goes missing and so in order to find her she decides to venture out into the wilderness and take a chance with what lies within.
I loved this book, it was very different than most young adult books that I have read - something a bit darker and twisted. I just wish a little more info had been given at the end about everything. Having said that it felt very real to me I was transported into the story and couldn't wait to see what happened next.
