I thought this book was going to be pretty intense when I first began it, but I couldn't imagine just how intense it would get. I'm not exaggerating when I call it "body horror." The things it describes happening to the girls' bodies as a result of the Tox are horrifying. If you get iffy about that kind of thing, this wont be the kind of book for you.

The relationships between the three girls is tantamount to the entire thing and rings throughout the story. I especially loved the parts from Byatt's perspective.

The plot begins a little slow, feeling more like it's showing you the setting than taking you anywhere. But when it picks up, it REALLY picks up. There were several reveals in the third act that made for excellent twists.

If you like crazy, intense, survival stories, this one's for you.
