With a beautiful cover like this, I couldn't help but pick up this book. The concept of this book was interesting, vaguely familiar of Lord of the Flies, but still intriguing enough to warrant a read. Honestly, it was pretty solid. It couldn't have come at a better time to read, with the theme of a quarantined island. I think it almost triggered this slow growing fear in me while reading that made the book even more unforgettable.
The author did a great job of making the reader feel the anxiety and emotions of our main characters. I was having debates with myself on what I would do in this situation, how much should the students truly know. One of the most enjoyable parts of the book was that there was no clear pathway on what should have been done in this impossible situation.
My one complaint with the book was that the ending was weak. I did not need a happy ending, however I just felt like it was lackluster. I wanted something more satisfying. I am not sure it is one that I would fully recommend, just because of the dissatisfying ending.
