Tantalizing and titillating are the words that spring to mind to describe my emotional responses to this excerpt. It feels like themes along the lines of The Village (movie), Shutter Island (book), Fifth Wave (book), and good old fashioned Agatha Christie mystery may abound in this story. Epidemic and disaster settings always let authors show us the best and worst in humanity so I expect this may keep the reader on the edge of her/his seat and sleeping with the lights turned on.
