This book caught my attention some time ago when I first heard about it; how can I possibly pass up a book that’s a cross between a post-apocalyptic thriller with a boarding school story, ‘Outbreak’ with ‘Lord Of The Flies’?!
The Raxter School for Girls has been consumed by an outbreak of a disease named almost too kindly as the Tox, and on a now-quarantined island that the school and girls are on, it seems they’ve basically been left to fend for themselves; from the very start of the book the set-up seems desperate and wild, with decay and illness everywhere. Author Rory Power plunges the reader in headfirst with the characters from page one, setting the stage for a horrifying but exciting survival story in her debut novel. I can’t wait to read more of this book.
