Intense and mysterious, I can’t wait to see how this unfolds.

I saw the cover for this book a few months ago and became obsessed with it, for nothing other than how gorgeous the cover is. And then I started hearing chatter about it, the likes of which piqued my interest tremendously — gruesome, gory, horrific — but the one word that stuck with me was powerful. I’m all for a book centered around girls that’s touted as powerful, because the world can never have enough books with powerful girls.

The synopsis and the first look doesn’t give away much, and I’m itching to know more. There’s a plague of sorts, a school on an island, girls who have to fight through circumstances of horrific proportions, and I have no clue how it all ties together. But I’m definitely hooked and can’t wait to find out.
