The story is extremely intriguing! The writing is excellent and the author does a great job at world building in these first few pages. I can see the world of Raxter Island form right before my eyes. The details on how the Tox is affecting all the girls and animals is so interesting, you just want to know what it is actually doing to them. The set up also makes you want to know how this happened in the first place and if the Navy is ever going to intervene on the island. I can definitely see this as a new type of Lord of the Flies and I would continue reading the book myself if I could handle the type of gory descriptions described in the book (which are reasonable). I think for those interested in the genre, this could turn out to be a fascinating read.
