1925- Honoree is strong, young woman determined to leave her hard childhood behind and make it big as a dancer in Jazz Age Chicago.
When things start to look promising for her career, she witnesses something that will put her in the crossfire of the mob.

2015- Sawyer is trying to finish a thesis. His research of an old film he finds in his grandmothers belongings, takes him to the bedside of 110 year old Honoree.
During his interviews with her, he uncovers secrets about her and ones he didn't even know his family had.

I was in love with Honoree from the beginning and couldn't get enough of her story. I was most entranced with the 20's and the author did a great job of making me feel like I was in the night clubs. There's romance, gangster activity, and secrets revealed throughout the book. I was eager to find out more with the turn of every page.

I did feel like some parts had some loose ends and left me wondering what happened. For instance, part of Sawyers research included a lost Micheaux film, and I feel like this part was not given enough detail to tie it up.

Overall, I really enjoyed the book and would definitely recommend for historical fiction lovers.
