Wild Women and the Blues was a great book’ I loved how it was set in the 1920s and mentions blues music. Honoree the main character set in the 1920s was a strong character. She went after what she wanted . She starts at the bottom and rises to the top. I love the way the book was written and I was into the story from the beginning.
The book is also set in 2015 and the main character in that time period is a graduate student doing research on honoree. The book flips back and forth between the two time lines.
You learn a little bit about blues music and the 1920s. I’m not sure how accurate it is so if you’re curious look it up.
There is also a murder, criminal and racial realities that people face in the 1920s. The author balances the time lines well and all the different elements in the story. The author has a way of showing people having some optimism even though they face such difficulties.
I would recommend this book to everyone.
