"Wild Women and the Blues" is a breath of fresh air because it's /not/ focused on the white experience in the 1920s. It's a unique glimpse at that era from a person of color's perspective. I love the premise of this book. From a first impression, I am not super invested in the lives of the characters (it starts off slowly), but I think that upon further reading, that would change. The cover too is gorgeous!
