This excerpt is certainly well-written, and if the plot hooks you, then I expect this will be an intriguing read about the hidden affair between two close couples and how/why a mother decided to pull her young teen daughter in as her secret keeper. A certain level of dysfunction seems inevitable, which I'm not really interested in reading, though.
