Not a story for me

This was an interesting excerpt from what I am assuming is an auto-biographical tale. Adrienne, on the cusp of adulthood, becomes drawn into an affair her mother is having with a long time family friend. She becomes her mother's confidante and I anticipate her having to cover up the affair with her family.
