This book is not something I would usually read, but this first impression drew me right in. I enjoy the way the author describes both the surroundings as well as builds the characters. Even with this short glance, you seem to know what kind of people they will turn out to be. Malabar puts Rennie into an awkward position right at the start of the book and it will be interesting to see how their relationship will play out as mother and daughter with such a big secret between them.
