The cover coupled with the title makes it intriguing. Did the writer choose it because she feels that beginning at this point in her life the outlook changed permanently? Or does it just represent innocent youth peering out over the expanse of her future, represented by the ocean? Either way, you want to keep looking over her shoulder as the story unfolds.

The first chapter works wonderfully because it establishes immediately the various relationship dynamics as well as the point in life that Brodeur was at, namely just beginning to learn and experience the sensations associated with becoming an adult.

Definitely makes me want to keep turning pages to find out what happens, how, and what happens to all of the people involved.
