Heart wrenching memoir

After reading the excerpt of WILD GAME, it sounds like this memoir will focus on 14 year old Rennie, who is a typical adolescent full of her own thoughts and dreams and young lust... until her mother, Malabar, wakes her up to tell her that she was kissed by their house guest, Ben, who is a friend of her husband's. Why is her mom confiding in her? I'm guessing this strange incident will thrust her into the throes of adulthood!
