Wild Game: My Mother, Her Lover, and Me really jumps right into the story with a gathering at her home where it's clear that the author's mother, Malabar, is charmed by her husband's friend Ben. I was surprised by how much the descriptive writing made the excerpt feel like I was reading a novel. I would love to see more reflection in the rest of the book. The cover looks like a perfect fit for the book. Although not a typical memoir for me to pick up, I am definitely curious about what will happen in Adrienne's life and how her relationship with her mother will change.
