Memoirs aren't really my thing, unless it's from someone culturally/historically significant. This one left me cold. It's really superbly written--it reads like fiction, but I can't get past the creepy mother-daughter dynamic here. It seems wildly inappropriate for Mom to be telling Rennie about her absolute excitement to embark on an affair and then swear the girl to secrecy. I'm also hesitant to read any more of a fourteen-year-old's foray into sexual discovery. I can see other people loving this one, but it's just not for me.
